Frequently Asked Questions

Question:    What is a SmartCard?
Answer:    A SmartCard is a prepaid parking card that provides parkers with a cashless alternative to use in the City’s electronic meters (master meters and single space meters) and in the new pay-on-foot stations in the municipal parking garages.

Question:    What is the cost to purchase a SmartCard?
Answer:    There is no charge for the actual card; the Office of Parking Services has absorbed that cost for you. The initial minimum purchase is $25; you may then replenish the card for any denomination thereafter.

Question:    Where can I use my SmartCard?
Answer:    All City of Hollywood on-street parking meters, meters on municipal parking lots and in all City of Hollywood public parking garages.

Question:    How do I use my SmartCard?
Answer:    Insert the card into the designated slot on the meter; the first number displayed will be the balance remaining on the card. When you leave the card in the slot, the meter will then begin decrementing $.25 (for each 15 minutes of parking) until you remove the card. DON’T FORGET TO REMOVE THE CARD WHEN THE DESIRED AMOUNT OF TIME OF PARKING HAS BEEN ACHIEVED.

Question:    When the SmartCard has been depleted, can I put more money on the card?
Answer:    Yes, SmartCards can be replenished at:
