2010 AWARDS. Commission of Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA)
National Accreditation is an extensive process that took two years to accomplish.
The City of Hollywood Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department became only the
90th agency nationally to receive this recognition. This stringent accreditation process
provides assurance to the public that the agency is meeting national standards of best
practice. In receiving accreditation the department has shown it operates above
and beyond minimum standards accepted and expected.
Florida Recreation and Parks Association
2010 Agency Excellence AwardThe Department was selected as
the top Parks and Recreation Department among Florida cities with a population of 75,000 to
149,000 residents. This award recognizes and honors the state’s most outstanding Community Park,
Recreation and/or Leisure Service agencies for excellence in Parks and Recreation management.
The award recognizes the Department’s accomplishments from the past year.
Facility Showcase
This award is given to departments to showcase innovative new facilities constructed within the year.
This years Facility Showcase highlighted the new Boulevard Heights Community Center and Hollywood
West Sports Complex facility. This facility was chosen for its many “green” features such as the
Forever-Lawn artificial turf football/soccer field, energy efficient Musco sports lighting and
various LEED certified construction practices.

City Manager’s Department of the Year Award
The Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts was awarded the City Manager’s
Department of the Year award for unsurpassed strategic performance toward achieving city
goals and excellent community participation.
Strategic Planning Top Achievement Award for Cost Containment
The Department was awarded the Top Achievement in the area of Cost Containment
for their ability to secure grants and sponsorships for programs and events to help
minimize the cost to the city.
