We here in Public Utilities are very proud of our Public Information and Education program. This program focuses on the power of information, and our understanding that it is of major importance that you, our citizens and customers, know what we are doing, what you can do to help save our resources, and just generally know how it all works. The Public Utilities Department wants to be accessible to our citizens. Tours of the Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant are available to any group; from City Administrators to Nursery Schools. We want to teach the public how drinking water is produced, and how sewage it treated to protect the environment. Tours may accommodate up to 50 people at one time (with one adult escort for every 10 children Grade 5 and younger), and may be as short as 20 minutes or as long as an hour and a half. We do request that tours be scheduled and confirmed so we can avoid multiple tours at the same time. We will also visit schools and home owner associations to give presentations regarding Hollywood's Utilities, the treatment process and water conservation.
