Flood Zone Determinations

The National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (NFIP/CRS) has issued a Classification of 8 to the City of Hollywood. This classification equates to a 10% premium reduction for all National Flood Insurance policy holders within Hollywood.

Standard homeowner insurance policies do not cover losses due to flooding. The National Flood Insurance program provided by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) makes flood insurance available to everyone in the City whether they live in a floodplain or not. Information on the costs and coverages of flood policies can be obtained from your insurance agent. If you own your home you can purchase coverage for the structure and the contents, if you rent you can purchase coverage for contents. In most Floodplane Map cases there is a 30-day waiting period before the flood insurance policy becomes effective. For most people, a home and its contents are their greatest investment. Maintaining flood insurance to protect yourself from a devastating loss is essential.

The map pictured on the left denotes the portions of Hollywood that lie within a floodplain. You can see more information on the Coastal Barrier Protection Areas by visiting that link. If you need assistance in determining if you are located within a floodplain within the City of Hollywood, complete the On-Line Flood Determination Request or you can download the Request for Flood Determination Form (.PDF) then return it to the ECSD Office for processing. Or, as always, you can call (954) 921-3939, and leave a message.

The request form may be downloaded and printed at your convenience. It is provided in "Adobe© Acrobat" Format. You will need Acrobat Reader to view and print the form.
