As the water flows from the Spiractors, it enters the top of the filters. The filters are constructed of specially selected separation layers made up of a coarse anthracite layer, silica sand layer, and gravel. Gravity forces the water through the multiple stages of the filters, which trap suspended particles in the water and thereby decreases the turbidity.
