Welcome to the City of Hollywood Records and Archives Division online catalog. Here you will find almost 8,000 catalog entries for item and collection descriptions and images of our holdings of government records and donated materials dating from the founding of Hollywood in the 1920s to the present.

The City of Hollywood’s photographic collections currently consist of some 6,000 cataloged images available for viewing on this web site. There are also many postcards and other pictorial materials in the Archives collections. Many individual collections also contain items other than photos – government and private records - reports, publications, clippings, documents, advertising, maps, ephemera, objects, etc. - all cataloged as well, and scanned when appropriate.

There is some backlog of uncataloged collections of Hollywood government and donated records. Please contact the Archives for information.

See Search Tips, below, to refine your search. In results, you can click on a picture to enlarge it, click on Call Nbr/Folder to see the full description, and click on Collection Title to get a full collection description.

Database Search Tips
  • Use * to truncate and search forms of a word: Fish* = fish, fisheries, fishing, etc.
  • Search date field for a decade: 192* for all 1920s, 199* for all 1990s, etc.
  • Enter words followed by AND, NOT, or OR, for example A AND B NOT C
  • Searching for more than one word will return results with each word located anywhere in the catalog record or field – this system will not search for a phrase – to find a phrase, use Browse Subjects, above.
The City of Hollywood has a strong commitment to the preservation of its historical resources and has invested in state-of-the-art cataloging software to make those resources more readily available. In addition to the investment of city resources, funding for the Internet component of this software was obtained through a grant from Florida’s State Historical Records Advisory Board, administered by the Bureau of Archives and Records Management in Tallahassee. We thank them for their confidence in our program in fully funding the purchase of our Re:discovery for Internet software component.

Part of the evaluation process for our grant includes feedback from users of this site. We would very much appreciate hearing from you as to the quality of the collections, ease of use, any problems you may have experienced, and any suggestions you care to make to generally improve the site. Please address your comments to rroberts@hollywoodfl.org.
