Sandbags
Many Hollywood residents are interested in using sandbags as a short-term flood mitigation solution during the summer rainy and hurricane seasons. Due to the strain it places on limited resources, the City of Hollywood several years ago discontinued the practice of distributing free sandbags to the public.
It is recommended that any resident who desires sandbags should include them on his/her list of hurricane supplies to purchase from local or online retailers. As with all hurricane supplies, sandbags may be difficult to obtain when a hurricane threatens South Florida so residents should purchase them with the rest of their hurricane supplies at the beginning of each hurricane season.
