Call to Artists

The City of Hollywood department of Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts, is currently seeking applications from artists who are interested in showing their original artwork at one of three locations in Hollywood, Florida: The ArtsPark Gallery at Young Circle, Hollywood City Hall, and The Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center.

Entry requirements and details are as follows:

  • This call is open to all artists based in Florida 18 years of age and older.
  • Only original, two-dimensional artwork will be accepted. 
  • Entries must be sent digitally using the online application form.
  • Selected artists are responsible for the installation and removal of their artwork. 
  • Selected artists may sell their work.

Each applicant may apply one time per year. Only one entry per applicant. Original artwork may be any two-dimensional medium including photography, prints, drawings, painting, and mixed media. 

Artists may submit up to 8 digital images. Image files can be no bigger than 10MB each. JPEG and PDF files are preferred. Applicants may submit a brief description and/or layout of how the artwork will be installed.

Selection Process

The City of Hollywood Artwork Selection Committee will review all submitted applications and make selections on an ongoing basis. The Committee will determine the location of the artwork to be displayed. Criteria is based on artistic excellence, creativity, and adherence to the entry requirements. Artwork displayed must be the same artwork submitted unless otherwise agreed upon by the Artwork Selection Committee. Selected artists will be notified by email. 

Schedule

Installation, exhibition, and de-installation dates will be determined by the Artwork Selection Committee. The selected artist must sign a HOLD HARMLESS agreement to display selected artwork for a designated loan period. The selected artist is responsible for any shipping and installation expenses. Artists are responsible for framing their artwork, if necessary. Artwork will be under the standard insurance and security of each venue. Any damage or loss is at the risk of the selected artist. The City of Hollywood has the right to remove any and all artwork at their discretion, artists will be notified of any issues.

Special Event Permitting

The Special Events Division coordinates permitting for events hosted by promoters and organizers using public or private property within the limits of the city.

Festivals, events and weddings planned for Hollywood Beach will be subject to an additional approval and permitting process by the Department of Environmental Protection. Hollywood Beach is a turtle nesting habitat and we take great care when planning an event during turtle nesting season, from March 1 to October 31 of each year.
