Rules of Procedures Governing Public Appearances



 1. PUBLIC COMMENTS

If an attorney, or any person, appears before the Commission in a representative capacity, first obtain and complete a comment card from the City Clerk. Comment cards must be returned to the City Clerk within the first five minutes after the start of Public Comments on an agenda item. After being recognized, approach the podium, give your name and address, identify your client or clients (if applicable), group or organization, state whether or not they are resident taxpayers of the City of Hollywood and then state whether they are in favor of, or against the agenda item in question and proceed to succinctly state the client's, group or organization's position or present information on their behalf. A citizen's time is not transferable to any other person.


2. PUBLIC HEARINGS

After being recognized, approach the podium, give your name and address, identify your client or clients (if applicable), group or organization, state whether or not they are resident taxpayers of the City of Hollywood and then state whether they are in favor of, or against the agenda item in question and proceed to succinctly state the client's, group or organization's position or present information on their behalf. A citizen's time is not transferable to any other person.


3. CITIZENS' COMMENTS 
Citizens' Comments shall be held on the Third Wednesday of each month at the Regular City Commission Meeting in the City Commission Chambers, Room 219, at 5:00 PM. Each speaker must first obtain and complete a Citizens' Comment card from the City Clerk. Comment cards must be returned to the City Clerk within the first five minutes after Citizens' Comments starts. Each speaker shall be given 3 minutes to speak. If more than 10 speakers register, the Commission shall limit the amount of time per speaker. A citizen's time is not transferable to any other person.


 4. CITY COMMISSION BACKUP INFORMATION 
For each agenda item, backup may be reviewed in the City Clerk's Office in Room 221, or on the City Clerk's page.
 
 5. LOBBYISTS' REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Registration as a lobbyist in the City of Hollywood is required if any person, firm or corporation lobbying the City Commission on any petition or issue, pursuant to Section 30.15 of the Code of Ordinances. Registration is available online at www.hollywoodfl.org. Click on "Open Government".


6. AUXILIARY AIDS AND SERVICES

Please silence all cell phones and pagers prior to entering the meeting.
