Art in Public Spaces
The City of Hollywood's Artwork Selection Committee invites Florida artists to apply for participation in an ongoing series of exhibitions at Hollywood City Hall and the ArtsPark at Young Circle. For further information, please contact ArtsPark at Young Circle at 954.921.3500.
APPLICATION
Applications can also be obtained at the Hollywood City Hall Lobby information desk located at 2600 Hollywood Blvd.
To be considered for exhibition, and to have your work included in the registry for future exhibitions, please submit the following:
- A completed Application for Exhibition.
- Examples of the work which would be available for exhibition in the form of 35 mm slides in 8-1/2 X 11 plastic sheets, color photographs 3 x 5 or larger, or image files (PDF format preferred) on CD or DVD. All submissions should be labeled with the artist's name, title of work, date of work, size (height before width), medium, and location of installations (if applicable). Photographs of artwork should be similarly labeled on the reverse, or numbered with an accompanying separate photograph list. Please do not submit more than one (1) sheet of slides or 20 photographs regardless of submission method.
- A current resume including exhibitions, awards, commissions, collections, academic training and professional employment.
- Printed matter such as reviews, announcements, catalogs, etc. may be submitted. Such material should not exceed 8 ½" x 14".
Be brief. Slides or photographs of available work are the most important component of your submission.
Material submitted to the Artwork Selection Committee becomes the property of the City. Slides or photos will be returned to the artist after the required period of one year, at the artist's request. If your material is rejected upon initial review, it will be automatically returned.
ELIGIBILITY
All artists who reside, work, study and/or teach in Florida are eligible.
Only original artwork is eligible for exhibition - such as painting, drawing, photography, collage, sculptural wall works or traditional graphics. Traditional graphic processes such as signed limited-edition lithographs, etchings and silkscreens are eligible. Signed photo-offset lithographic prints will not be considered for exhibition.
The City's Artwork Selection Committee makes all decisions on the installation and placement of all works. The Committee and/or City Commission have final authority as to the selection, placement, duration and number of works placed on exhibition.
DURATION OF EXHIBITIONS
Exhibitions will change approximately four times a year, with the duration of each exhibition approximately 10-12 weeks.
SECURITY
All artists whose works are accepted for exhibition will be required to sign a “City of Hollywood Artwork and Photography Display Release and Hold Harmless” Agreement. All works will be displayed on adjustable vertical hanging rod systems which have a security locking device. The Artwork Selection Committee and the City of Hollywood will exercise every care in the handling and securing of your work.
SALES
Should we receive sales inquiries, the Artwork Selection Committee and City of Hollywood will refer interested buyers directly to the artists.
