The ArtsPark at Young Circle in downtown Hollywood is one of the few places in the United States where you can see five Baobab Trees. Native to Africa, these enormous trees are the second widest species of tree in the world! Baobab is the common name for each of the nine species of tree in the genus Adansonia. Six species live in the drier parts of Madagascar and two in mainland Africa. These breathtaking noble giants provide shade and a home for a variety of wildlife here in Hollywood. In Africa, the Baobab is a source of fiber, dye and fuel.
