Effective immediately and continues until further notice, the Florida Department of Health has posted a no swimming advisory at Harrison Street due to high bacteria counts. Certain bacteria could create unhealthy beach water conditions and may cause swimming-related gastroenteritis. The advisory will remain in effect until their sample results of 70 CFU/100mL for Enterococci bacteria or less. New results after retesting will be available late Friday afternoon, December 17, 2021, and posted on the Florida Health website here.
As such, Hollywood Beach Safety has closed off a three block area around Harrison Street. The lifeguard towers at Hollywood Boulevard and Virginia Streets are also flying the double red flags to advise the public that swimming is not currently allowed. This protocol will remain in effect until cleared by the Department of Health. For more information, please visit the Florida Healthy Beaches Program website.
