Infrastructure Enhancements Along N. 26th Avenue Scheduled To Begin

26th Ave

This summer along N. 26th Avenue, in the North Central Neighborhood, the Department of Public Utilities will be gearing up to begin a Utility Replacement Project. In coordination with this project, starting immediately after, the Development Services, Engineering Division will begin the N. 26th Avenue Repaving Project.  The Repaving Project will include milling and resurfacing of N. 26th Avenue from Taft Street to Sheridan Street.

As Spring 2022 approaches, milling and resurfacing of N. 26th Ave from Taft Street to Hollywood Blvd is scheduled to take place.  The Repaving Project for N. 26th Avenue is part of the Broward County Surtax Rehabilitation and Maintenance Project.   Side Street(s) repaving will be funded by the Department of Public Utilities.

The Department of Public Utilities, Utility Replacement Project consists of the installation of 5,900 linear feet of new water, 1,300 linear feet of drainage pipes and 2,200 linear feet of Exfiltration Trenches (French Drains) in the North Central Neighborhood from Taft Street to Sheridan Street including several side streets.

Work for both projects (Utility Replacement and N. 26th Avenue Repaving) will take place in the public right-of-way, requiring periodic lane closures throughout the duration of both projects.

Construction is expected to start this summer and be substantially completed by December 2022.
