[ARCHIVED] Flood Watch in Effect - Motorist Are Urged to Avoid Unnecessary Travel

Flood Watch picture of flooded street

As Hurricane Nicole approaches the east coast of Florida, the City of Hollywood is experiencing flooding created by higher than normal tides, storm surge, and rainfall. Motorists should avoid any unnecessary travel on the barrier island and in eastern sections of the Hollywood Lakes neighborhood from 13th Avenue to the Intracoastal Waterway, from Johnson Street to Moffett Street. Floodwaters are impacting the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, A-1-A, and side streets leading to the Broadwalk. Several streets around North and South Lakes are also flooded. Motorists should not attempt to drive through flooded areas. Floodwaters can damage your vehicle and prevent you from seeing safety hazards in the roadway.  Please avoid wading in standing flood water, which can contain contaminants.
