[ARCHIVED] Irrigation System Rebates Available Soon from Broward County

Broward County Irrigation Rebate Program

Planning to upgrade to your home irrigation system? Broward County will be offering rebates to property owners who install EPA WaterSense-labeled smart irrigation controllers and pressure regulating spray bodies. The rebates will be on a first come, first served basis, so you'll want to get your application in beginning on Monday, May 13th. For more information and the application, visit: http://www.broward.org/irrigationrebate/Pages/default.aspx

Who is eligible to participate? Property owners who reside in Hollywood (a partner City) and have an operational, potable water irrigation system. After the initial application process, in order to qualify for a rebate, the residential irrigation system is evaluated and must meet certain criteria:

1. No head mixing (sprays and rotors) within irrigation zones. Presence of head mixing will initially disqualify system from smart controller rebate options. Other rebate options are available to help correct the head mixing imbalance.

2. Overall property must pass an efficiency ‘Fitness’ test. A points-based system is used to assess ‘fitness’. A property must score a 70% or better to be qualified for a rebate.

Following system evaluation and County approval:

• Homeowners must commit to one of four rebate upgrade options within 10 days of initial site visit.

• Efficiency upgrades (timer or sprinkler rebate options) must be performed by a licensed irrigation contractor within 60 days.

Non-confirmation after 10 days results in loss of place in queue. After a follow-up confirmation that the devices have been installed correctly, itemized invoices are then submitted to the County, and rebates are issued within 60 days.

Homeowners who do not qualify for a rebate still receive an irrigation system evaluation and complementary outdoor water conservation tool kit. If you have any questions, please call Mike Gutierrez at 954-519-1258 or Jeff Deloian at 954-519-1273.
